How to take care of microcement?

Initial maintenance
Microcement reaches its maximum hardness, chemical resistance and water resistance after one month of application. Particular care should be taken during the first two weeks, when the risk of damage is greatest. After two days of application, it is safe to step on the coating and after a week of microcement application, it is safe to walk freely. During the first two weeks, do not cover the coating with anything, including paint or carpet.

Special care
Maintenance of microcement flooring is similar to that of natural wood flooring. Although the coating is waterproof, it is important to avoid prolonged contact with moisture, e.g. wet towels (especially if they are spillable), rags, buckets, etc. It is very important that the surface is not exposed to materials such as stones or sand which may scratch the microcement. In order not to damage the coating, friction with hard and heavy objects must be avoided, for example, if it is necessary to move furniture, it should not be dragged but lifted and carefully moved to a new location. If the furniture has sharp or metal legs, we recommend using special white rubber pads. If microcement has been applied to the work surface, never place hot pots and pans directly on the surface, use special supports.

Cleaning
For cleaning microcement flooring, we recommend the use of specially formulated cleaning agents: Ecoclean and Ecoclean Pro. Ecoclean is an environmentally friendly concentrated household cleaner that is ideal for cleaning floors. Ecoclean is sold in concentrated form, so it should be diluted with water before use. Attention, microcement coatings can only be cleaned with Ecoclean 2 weeks after Topsealer has been applied. Ecoclean Pro is a professional ecological cleaning agent for cleaning difficult and stubborn stains. Unlike Ecoclean, Ecoclean Pro does not need to be diluted with water. Spray the cleaner evenly over the surface and leave it on for a few minutes. Another alternative for cleaning microcement coatings are soaps with a neutral pH. The use of aggressive cleaning agents is strictly prohibited. Microcement cannot be cleaned with products such as chlorine, bleach, ammonia and other detergents that are not PH neutral. Even when cleaning with neutral products, we do not recommend that soap be in contact with microcement for too long. Also, always consider the following factors: the rougher the texture of the microcement, the more anti-slip properties the coating will have, and therefore it will be much more difficult to clean. We therefore recommend Microdeck for interior applications and Microstone for exterior applications.

Periodic care
We recommend treating your microcement flooring from time to time with Ceraciment special acrylic wax, which not only nourishes and strengthens the flooring, but also creates a special, slightly shiny protective layer. For professional use, e.g. to protect floor coverings in high traffic areas, we recommend Ceraciment PRO. Ceraciment PRO is very resistant to abrasion and gives the coating a light metallic shine. If you have not yet purchased Ceraciment PRO, a wax created especially for Topciment coatings, you can also use any other acrylic-based wax.
